My childhood is officially dead. It was announced last night that the ole ball coach, the legend himself Steve Spurrier, will retire from coaching the University of South Carolina effective immediately. It is truly the end of an era and college football will never be the same.

Spurrier will long be remembered for his witty repartee with the media but what he accomplished at Florida cannot be overstated. College football fans everywhere loved to hate the Ole Ball Coach and he was a master at playing off against it. His stamp on college football is undeniable and we are all a little less this morning with his expected retirement announcement.

Goodbye OBC you will be missed dearly. As a Tennessee alumnus and Volunteer fan, I will forever and always remember you this way.
